Their support underscores the universal appeal of Measure M -- benefits including reducing the time we're stuck in traffic by 15 percent, creating 465,000 new jobs and immediately filling potholes and fixing local roads in all 88 L.A. County cities has earned Measure M endorsements from prominent Democrats and Republicans; the Los Angeles County Federation of Labor and the Los Angeles County Business Federation; and the AARP, the Los Angeles Times and La Opinion. MEASURE M IS CRITICAL TO LAX CONNECTIVITY, AREA CONGESTION RELIEF

The Yes on Measure M campaign today highlighted how the measure would make it easier for tourists and business travelers to get to and from LAX and how it would relieve Westside and South Bay traffic near the airport.

Measure M would build a new LAX station that would connect three rail lines and multiple bus lines directly with terminals. Metro's current so-called LAX station stops 2 miles short of the airport's terminals, serves just one rail line and requires a transfer to a shuttle bus.

LOS ANGELES -- Senator Barbara Boxer today enthusiastically endorsed Measure M, the Los Angeles County Traffic Improvement Plan, citing its positive impact on infrastructure, air quality and quality of life.

YES ON MEASURE M SHOWCASES L.A. COUNTY MANUFACTURING JOB CREATION

Mayor Garcetti Joins Rail Manufacturing President and Employees Where Metro's Rail Cars are Made by 350 L.A. County Workers

PALMDALE -- Metro Vice Chair and Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti and Kinkisharyo International, LLC President Akiyoshi Oba today urged a yes vote on Measure M to create new jobs. Kinkisharyo's 450,000 square foot manufacturing facility in Palmdale currently employs 350 people making rail cars for Metro's Gold and Expo lines, and they will soon make cars for the under-construction Crenshaw/LAX line. Measure M will dramatically increase rail transit all across Los Angeles County, requiring the manufacture of many more rail cars. According to the non-profit Los Angeles Economic Development Corporation, Measure M will create 465,000 jobs across our region.

The Kinkisharyo facility cost $60 million to build and is located on 60 acres near the intersection of Sierra Highway and Avenue M in Palmdale.

25% OF RAMS FANS ARE TAKING METRO -- SHOWS HOW MEASURE M WILL REDUCE TRAFFIC AND ADD CONVENIENCE

LA MEMORIAL COLISEUM -- The Measure M campaign announced that 25 percent of Rams fans are taking Metro to games at the Coliseum, accounting for approximately 20,000 people who are off the roads and freeways and not clogging parking lots. Metro has been running extra trains on the Expo Line and has been increasing bus service for the games.

"Measure M will reduce traffic for our daily commutes and during special events by breaking freeway bottlenecks and by creating a countywide, interconnected transportation system," Metro Vice Chair and L.A. Mayor Eric Garcetti said. "25 percent of Rams fans taking Metro to the games means 20,000 fewer people clogging freeways and parking lots, and that means less traffic for us all. It shows that the success we've already seen by extending the Expo Line to Santa Monica is only increasing, and it shows what we can achieve by voting yes on Measure M."

"Whether you're going to a ball game, planning a Saturday 'date night,' or going to the Music Center and nearby museums, Measure M will make it convenient for your and reduce traffic and parking congestion for us all," Garcetti added.

YES ON MEASURE M ADS HIT AIRWAVES

Oct. 8, 2016 — To ensure that it's fresh in voters' minds when they cast their ballots that Measure M will reduce the time people are stuck in traffic by 15 percent and create 465,000 new jobs, the Yes on Measure M campaign will begin airing four television ads starting Sunday. Vote by mail ballots arrive in L.A. County homes next week.
